Wishing On A Star

Paul Weller releases his sublime new single 'Wishing On A Star' on August 30th. Taken from his forthcoming album, 'Studio 150', which is made up entirely of cover versions, 'Wishing On A Star' was originally a top 3 hit in 1978 for Los Angelean based soul combo Rose Royce.
Released on 2 CDs and limited edition 7" track-listings go like this:
CD Maxi single: Wishing On A Star (single version) / Family Affair / Let It Be Me
CD 2 Track: Wishing On A Star (single version) / Let It Be Me
7" single: Wishing On A Star (single version) / Family Affair / Let It Be Me
"I was listening to the radio one morning," Weller says, "when I heard the song and suddenly it made perfect sense". This joyously beautiful string-laden ballad is Paul's favourite track on the new album which is released on September 13th.
'Let It Be Me' was originally a hit for The Everly Brothers in 1960 but in the past has also been performed by the likes of Nina Simone and Bob Dylan. And, of course, 'Family Affair' is a version of the Sly & The Family Stone classic.
